Arlene Eunice Blanchard

Arlene Eunice Blanchard, 86, of 30 Hall St. died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she had been admitted Dec. 31. Born in North Adams on March 28, 1917, daughter of Jesse and Eva Tondreau Moran, she was educated in local schools, including Drury High School. Primarily a homemaker, she had been employed by the former Florini's Italian Gardens and Capitol restaurants in her younger years. Mrs. Blanchard was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church. Her husband, Robert Linwood Blanchard Sr., whom she married March 2, 1934, in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., died May 8, 2000. She leaves six daughters, Patricia Girard, Mary DeMarsico and Nancy Walter, all of North Adams, Lynn Tanguay of Adams, Judith Southgate of Pownal, Vt., and Roberta Callebaut of Phoenix; three sons, Robert L. Blanchard Jr., Mark D. Blanchard and Lance A. Blanchard, all of North Adams; a sister, Norma Starr of North Adams, 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Memorial services for Arlene Moran Blanchard, who died Jan. 10, 2004, will be conducted Wednesday, Jan. 14, at 1 at St. John's Episcopal Church, Summer Street, by the Rev. Edward King, rector. Burial will take place in the spring in Southview Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. The omission of flowers is requested. Donations in her memory are suggested for the North Adams Ambulance Service, the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society through FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements. She also leaves her close companion, William B. Whitney of North Adams.
