Albert J. Jurczak Jr.

Albert J. Jurczak Jr., 55, of 7 Leh's Lane died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, following a brief illness. Born in Adams on Jan. 23, 1948, son of the late Albert J. Jurczak Sr. and Emma Doyle Jurczak, he graduated in 1966 from the former Adams Memorial High School. A Navy veteran, he served with an intelligence unit during the Vietnam War. A steam fitter, Mr. Jurczak was employed by various contractors in the area through the Pittsfield local of the steam- and pipe-fitters union. He was last employed by the Yankee Atomic Plant in Rowe, until retiring because of a disability. He was a member of the Parishes of Notre Dame-St. Thomas' and St. Stanislaus'. He was a member of the Adams Mountain and Maple Grove Civic clubs and American Legion Post 160. He enjoyed fishing and was hiking the Appalachian Trail, reaching New Hampshire, when his disability occurred, ending his attempt to reach Maine. He leaves five brothers, John A. Jurczak of South Easton, Thomas M. Jurczak of Reading, David R. Jurczak of Adams, Michael P. Jurczak of Ketchikan, Alaska, and Peter F. Jurczak of Sitka, Alaska, and a sister, Patricia Ann Kelley of Adams. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Albert J. Jurczak, who died Jan. 17, 2004, will be celebrated Thursday, Jan. 22, at 10 at St. Thomas' Church. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours at MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME will be held Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 4 to 7. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory be made to the BART organization, through the funeral home. Survivors include a brother-in-law, Earl F. Kelley of Adams.
