Seymour Goldstein

Seymour "Sy" L. Goldstein, 81, of Pixley Hill Road died yesterday at home. Born in New York City on Feb. 4, 1920, son of Jacob and Sadie Goldstein Goldstein, he attended New York schools and graduated from New York University. During World War II, he served as a captain in the Army Air Forces and was stationed in Iceland. Mr. Goldstein owned Sy Goldstein Brokerage Inc. During his business career, he was also executive director of Eastern Perishable Products Association and sales manager for Hotel Bar Foods Inc. He enjoyed going to Tanglewood, where he was a volunteer, and the Berkshire Theatre Festival and Jacob's Pillow. He leaves his wife, the former Roslyn Kossess; a daughter, Linda Stocknoff of Manhattan; a son, Joel Goldstein of Jerusalem; a stepson, Steven Kropf of Kendall Park, N.J.; a stepdaughter, Barbara Heinekin of Tampa, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, and two stepgrandchildren. Loving Uncle to Rita and John Zola and their two sons, Josh and Jared. The funeral will be tomorrow, April 4, 2001, at 1 at Hevreh of South Berkshire, Great Barrington, with Rabbi Deborah Zecher, spiritual leader of Hevreh, officiating. The family will receive friends following the service tomorrow at the home of Rita and John Zola, 8 Abby Hill Road, Great Barrington. FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, is in charge of arrangements.
