Herbert Harrison

Herbert E. Harrison, 102, formerly of 50 East Housatonic St., died Monday at Springside of Pittsfield. Born in Fall River on Jan. 19, 1899, son of Albert and Elizabeth Oldham Harrison, he began his education there and continued in the Adams schools upon coming here in 1912. He was employed as a draftsman and later as a supervisor of drafting with the former General Electric Co. power transformer department, retiring in 1963 after 45 years of service. Mr. Harrison attended the Cheshire Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, exercising and doing yard work around his home. His wife, the former Marjorie F. Renfrew, died July 2, 1992. He leaves a son, Robert E. Harrison Sr. of Pittsfield; a sister, Elizabeth Couture of Adams; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Harrison, Herbert E., age 102, April 2, 2001. He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Michelle A. Miner, Robert E. Harrison Jr., Mary Ellen Genzabella, Shaun Harrison, Christine Harrison and Katherine Cowan. Funeral services will be held Thursday at noon at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. William Furey officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. The family will receive friends Thursday morning beginning at 11. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice in care of the funeral home.
