Sarah Elizabeth Alcombright

Sarah Elizabeth Alcombright, 83, of 1 Summit St., Whitinsville, died Saturday at Continuing Care Center in Hopedale, where she was admitted Jan. 16. A former longtime resident of North Adams, she had lived in Whitinsville for three years. Born in Adams on April 30, 1920, daughter of Russell and Sarah Blanchard Bennett, she attended local schools. Mrs. Alcombright was employed by the former Clark Biscuit Co. in North Adams for several years. Earlier, she worked for the former Sprague Electric Co. She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church and enjoyed crocheting and playing bingo. Her husband, Raymond G. Alcombright, whom she married Aug. 26, 1938, died March 2, 1996. She leaves two sons, Raymond Alcombright of Bennington, Vt., and Robert Alcombright of Mount Crawford, Va.; three daughters, Brenda Cugini of Whitinsville, with whom she made her home, Shirley Dolle of Stamford, Vt., and Deborah Kelly of Cohoes, N.Y.; two sisters, Louise Moody of Saranac, N.Y., and Evelyn Maynard of Clarksburg; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Sarah Bennett Alcombright will be Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 11 from AUGÉ-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Feb. 10, from 5 to 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire Inc. through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247.
