William Pilot Jr.

William James Pilot Jr., 85, of 17 Willow Cove died Thursday morning at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center in Lenox, where he had resided for three weeks. Born in North Adams on Feb. 14, 1916, son of William J. Pilot Sr. and Catherine Stickles Pilot, he was a graduate of Drury High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a dairy farmer for Reinhart's Farm in Lanesboro and also for Janowycz Farm. Prior to farming, he was employed by Mullen Mayflower. Mr. Pilot enjoyed gardening. His wife, the former Esther Tsepas, died Feb. 23, 1998. He leaves three daughters, Margaret S. Pilot and Cathy A. Pilot, both of Cheshire, and Alexandria G. Fortner of Readsboro, Vt.; two sons, William J. Pilot III of Cheshire and Steven J. Pilot of Portland, Maine; a brother, Robert Pilot of the state of Florida; three granddaughters and six great-grandchildren. Private funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Blackinton Cemetery in North Adams. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department in care of DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, 121 North State Road, Cheshire, MA 01225, which is handling arrangements.
