Velma V. Lincoln

Velma V. Lincoln, 100, of Village East died Thursday at the Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown, where she was admitted Feb. 26, 2003. Born in Fall River on Dec. 6, 1903, daughter of Herbert and Sarah Windel Harrison, she attended Fall River schools before moving to Adams at the age of 9 with her family. She attended Adams elementary schools. She resided in Stamford, Vt., Clarksburg and Adams before moving to North Adams 30 years ago. She was last employed for 29 years at the former Sprague Electric Co., retiring in 1965. Earlier she had worked for several years at the former Hoosac Cotton Mill. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Naomi Chapter 17, Order of the Eastern Star. Her husband, Charles F. Lincoln Jr., whom she married Aug. 23, 1930, died Feb. 14, 1987. She leaves a son, Charles H. Lincoln of Williamstown; a sister, Agnes Dale of Hemet, Calif., and two grandchildren. A granddaughter, Wendy Anne Lincoln, died Dec. 21, 1988, aboard Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Velma V. Harrison Lincoln, who died Feb. 12, 2004, will be Tuesday, Feb. 17, at 10 in the AUGÉ-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Robert Moulton, permanent deacon of the parishes of Notre Dame and St. Thomas churches, Adams, officiating. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be on Tuesday from 9 until time for the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Sweet Brook Care Centers Activities Fund, through the funeral home, 46 North Church St. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Shirley Lincoln of North Adams; a grandson, Scott Lincoln of Clarksburg; a granddaughter, Alexandra Lincoln of Clarksburg, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Chester Harrison, and a sister, Etta Risatti.
