Clarence W. "Cal" Tucker Jr

Clarence W. "Cal" Tucker Jr., 72, of North Hill Road, Westfield, Vt., died Friday at Bell Aire Skilled Nursing Facility in Newport, Vt., where he had been a patient for two weeks. Born in North Egremont on Dec. 18, 1931, son of Rose Dellea Tucker of Pittsfield and the late Clarence W. Tucker Sr., he was a 1949 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He had resided in Westfield for two years. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the Marines from 1950 to 1953. Mr. Tucker was a dairy farmer for most of his life and had farmed in Lanesboro, Cheshire, New York state and Vermont, retiring in 1989. He later was employed as a caretaker at the Medical Arts Building in Troy, N.Y., for six years. He was an avid gardener. Besides his mother, he leaves his wife, the former Nancy L. Martin, whom he married July 25, 1953; two sons, Dennis M. Tucker of Ten Sleep, Wyo., and Dwayne E. Tucker of Newport Center, Vt.; four daughters, Dareen C. Markham of Pittsfield, Dawn L. and Dayle L. Wood, both of Scituate, and Daphne R. Bracken of Vero Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Norman Tucker of Sun City, Ariz., and Daniel Tucker of the town of Florida; two sisters, Beatrice Tucker of Pittsfield and Carolyn Passmore of Palmyra, Va., 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Clarence W. "Cal" Tucker Jr., 72, who died Feb. 13, 2004, will be held Saturday, Feb. 21, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Cheshire, MA, with the Rev. Michael Collins officiating. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory may be made to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center Intensive Care Unit, One Medical Ctr. Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756. Mr. Tucker is also survived by two aunts and many nieces and nephews. DERY-CHESHIRE FUNERAL HOME, 121 North State Road, Cheshire, MA 01225 are handling arrangements.
