Ethel Ida Satko

Ethel Ida Satko, 89, formerly of 11 Thompson St., died Tuesday afternoon at Williamstown Commons, where she had resided since 2000. Born in Saratoga, N.Y., on Sept. 10, 1914, daughter of Benjamin H. and Bertha A. Meacham Burnett, she moved to Adams as a child with her family and attended schools there. Mrs. Satko was a teller at South Adams Savings Bank until retiring 25 years ago. Earlier, she had worked at the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates. She was a member of First Baptist Church and of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed gardening, ceramics, needlework and tracing her family's genealogy. Her husband, longtime town accountant Joseph T. Satko, died May 28, 1984. She leaves a brother, Alfred B. Burnett of Adams, and a sister, Lila Nimmons of Williamstown. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Ethel I. Satko, who died Feb. 17, 2004, will be held Friday at noon at AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by services conducted at 1 at First Baptist Church of Adams by the Rev. Donald E. Gray, pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church through the funeral home. Mrs. Satko also leaves a niece, Shirley Burnett of Saratoga, N.Y.; a nephew, Edward Nimmons of North Adams; three grandnephews, Sam Pevey of North Adams, Joe Burnett of San Antonio and Jamie Nimmons of Boston; four great-grandnieces, Courtney Warren of Danvers, Mikayla Burnett of San Antonio and Brittany Bombard and McKenna Pevey, both of North Adams.
