Madelyn Marie Caldwell

Madelyn Marie Caldwell, 91, longtime resident of Hillsdale Road, South Egremont, died Wednesday at Great Barrington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, where she had been a resident since the late 1980s. Born July 5, 1912, in Hoboken, N.J., daughter of Jacob Wilhelm and Elizabeth Labout Weynman, she was a graduate of Tenafly High School. During World War II, she worked for AT&T. After living for many years in Garden City, N.Y., Mrs. Caldwell and her husband, George Woodworth Caldwell Sr., moved to South Egremont in 1961 and later opened Bott Hill Ledge Tree Farm. Since her husband's death in 1986, Mrs. Caldwell has been a resident of Great Barrington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She leaves a son, George Caldwell Jr. of South Egremont, and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for the late Madelyn Caldwell will be private. There will be no calling hours. She also leaves her daughter-in-law, Sally, and three grandchildren, George Caldwell III, Elizabeth and Geoffrey Caldwell. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad through FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
