Alfred Romeo Guetti

Alfred Romeo Guetti, 97, of 2730 Wicklow Drive, Augusta, Ga., a former longtime resident of Whitingham Road, Readsboro, died Sunday at St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta. Born in Necocea, Argentina, on July 10, 1906, son of Geromia and Maria Guetti Guetti, the family returned to Vigo Tomaso, Austria, in 1909 when he was a child. He attended Austrian schools. In 1924, he emigrated to the United States and resided in Williamstown for a short time until he moved to Readsboro. Mr. Guetti was first employed by the New England Power Co. in construction of power plants in Bellows Falls and also with the former Readsboro Chair Shop. In 1927, he joined the Deerfield Glassine Co. in the carpentry shop and remained with the company and its successor, the Deerfield Specialty Papers Co., for 44 years until retiring in 1971. Mr. Guetti was a communicant of St. Joachim's Church. He and his wife, the former Viola Frances Piantoni, were married Oct. 26, 1935. They celebrated their golden anniversary in 1985. She died Nov. 1, 1989. He leaves a daughter, Loretta Bouvier of Augusta, with whom he lived; a son, Robert J. Guetti of Florida, Mass.; two sisters, Tullia Andreis and Alice Ferrari, both of Trento, Italy; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Alfred R. Guetti will take place Monday, Feb. 23, at 11 at St. Joachim's Church, Readsboro, Vt., with the Rev. Joseph Tate, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place in Village Cemetery, Readsboro, Vt., in the spring. Private calling hours for family and relatives at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, Mass., are Sunday, Feb. 22, from 7 to 9. Survivors include son-in-law Daniel Bouvier; daughter-in-law Colleen Guetti; grandchildren, Terri Guetti, Kristina Boillat, Jana Boyer, Craig Bouvier and Diane Bouvier; and great-grandchildren, Taylor Boillat, Jacob Boillat, Eli Bouvier, Aubrey Bouvier. Predeceased by sisters, Giustina, Ines, Ester and Elia.
