Angelo J. Zucco

Angelo J. Zucco, 91, of 12 Fairview Terrace died Sunday at home. Born in Great Barrington on April 13, 1912, son of Vittorio and Giacomina Giacomin Zucco, he attended local schools. Mr. Zucco was employed for many years as a papermaker at the former Schweitzer Paper Co. in Lee, retiring in 1973. After retiring, he became a caretaker for local properties. During World War II, he had worked as a special police officer for the Great Barrington Police Department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and telling stories. He also enjoyed his daily travels in town. He leaves his wife of 62 years, the former Mary Spadiccini; a son, Richard F. Zucco of Great Barrington; three sisters, Anne Harrison of Great Barrington and Rose Coons and Gloria Davis, both of Sheffield, and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Private funeral services for Angelo J. Zucco, who died Feb. 22, 2004, will be held at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Disabled American Veteransin care of BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230, which is handling arrangements. Survivors include two grandchildren, Victor and Tricia Zucco.
