Serena Marie White

Serena Marie White, 87, of 61 West Mountain Road died Monday evening at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 10, 1916, daughter of Louis and Rina Bettini Brandon, she graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1933 and from the former Berkshire Business College. She resided in New Ashford for many years before moving to Cheshire 10 years ago. Mrs. White was employed by the former Department of Public Welfare in Pittsfield for 28 years, retiring as a supervisor in 1983. She had served as town auditor for eight years in New Ashford and was a Girl Scout leader. An avid Red Sox fan, she enjoyed reading. Her husband, Forrest C. White Jr., whom she married Nov. 25, 1937, in Williamstown, died in October 1970. She leaves two daughters, Nancy M. Brindley and Bette J. Trybus, both of Pittsfield; two sons, Richard B. White and James F. White, both of Pittsfield; a sister, Zelda J. Brandon of Pittsfield, 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Serena M. Brandon White, 87, who died Feb. 23, 2004, will be conducted this evening, Feb. 25, at 7 at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles' Church. Burial will be in New Ashford Cemetery in the spring. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today from 4 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in her memory be made to the Cheshire Fire Department or Adams Ambulance, both in care of the funeral home. Her greatest joy was her family, whom she loved dearly. She is lovingly survived by her 13 grandchildren, David K. Luscier, Craig Luscier, Samantha Brindley, Jeffrey A. White, Michael Satrape, Anthony Satrape Jr., Jonathan Trybus, Timothy Trybus, Steven Trybus, Joseph Trybus, James White, Lisa Guthrie and Stacey Lazits; 14 great-grandchildren, and her devoted sons-in-law, John Trybus and Thomas Brindley, and daughters-in-law, Barbara and Sandie White.
