Maclyn J. Holdredge

Maclyn J. Holdredge, 51, of 1161 Rannapo Road, Ashley Falls, died Friday at home after being stricken there. Born in Westerly, R.I., on Dec. 30, 1952, daughter of the late George W. and Helen Hannau Thompson, she was educated there and earned a degree in physical education from the University of Rhode Island. At the time of her death, Mrs. Holdredge had been the physical-education teacher at Lee H. Kellogg School in Falls Village, Conn., for two years. Before that, she was a substitute teacher in northern Litchfield County in Connecticut and in South Berkshire. She coached the women's lacrosse teams at Berkshire School and at Housatonic Valley Regional High School in Falls Village, where she also was the field hockey coach. She also was a coach for the Berkshire Youth Soccer Program in Sheffield. She was an active participant in the Berkshire Rattler Youth Hockey and Mount Everett Regional School hockey programs, and the Salisbury (Conn.) Youth Hockey Program. She also was a referee for field hockey games and a leader of the Sheffield Whinnies 4-H program. During the summer, she was an instructor for the Region 1 Arts and Enrichment Program at North Canaan (Conn.) Elementary School. She leaves her husband, David C. Holdredge; four sons, Bertram Lewis Holdredge III of Richmond, Va., Russell Holdredge of Cromwell, Conn., and Geoffrey Holdredge and Evan Holdredge, both at home; two daughters, Joanna Holdredge of Avon, Conn., and Christine Holdredge, at home, and two brothers, Jon Thompson of Dresher, Pa., and Weston Thompson of Hope Valley, R.I. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Maclyn J. Holdredge, who died Feb. 27, 2004, will be held today, March 1, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Mount Everett Regional School, Berkshire School Road, Sheffield. There will be no calling hours. A second memorial service will be held in Rhode Island at a later date. Memorial donations may be sent to the Geoffrey and Evan Holdredge Scholarship Fund in care of Mr. David Holdredge, 1161 Rannapo Road, Ashley Falls, MA 10222. Arrangements are under the care of NEWKIRK-PALMER FUNERAL HOME, 118 Main St., North Canaan, CT 06018.
