Frances Jean Saunders

Frances Jean Saunders, 71, of Greylock Apartments, 3 Myrtle St., died yesterday at North Adams Commons after a brief illness. Born in Adams on Jan. 27, 1933, daughter of Stanley and Marie Vitali Pliska, she graduated from the former Adams High School in 1951. A homemaker, Mrs. Saunders worked briefly as a clerk in the sales division of the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams. She was a communicant of the Parishes of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and St. Stanislaus, and a member of the Adams Town Democratic Committee. Her husband, Richard J. Saunders, whom she married July 19, 1954, in St. Stanislaus' Church, died July 17, 2003. She leaves a son, Thomas M. Saunders of North Adams, and two granddaughters. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, March 10, at 10 in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church for the life of Frances Pliska Saunders, who died March 6, 2004. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. McBRIDE FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include her two granddaughters, Kate Saunders of North Adams and Alyssa Saunders of Vergennes, Vt.
