Robert J. Charon, 81, of 101 Connecticut Blvd., East Hartford, Conn., formerly of North Adams, died yesterday at Hartford (Conn.) Hospital. Born in North Adams on May 15, 1922, son of Arthur and Irene Coates Charon, he attended local schools. He had lived in East Hartford for 48 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Charon was employed as an accountant by the Herbert Fisher Insurance Agency of East Hartford, until retiring in 1996. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He leaves three sons, Robert E. "Bach" Charon of New Bedford, Eugene A. Charon of South Windsor, Conn., and James T. Charon of San Francisco; three daughters, Margaret L. Charon of Windsor Locks, Conn., Patricia A. Charon of Manchester, Conn., and Kathleen L. Charon of East Hartford. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Friends and relatives of Robert J. "Bob" Charon may gather tomorrow, March 10, at 9 at CALLAHAN FUNERAL HOME, 1602 Main St., East Hartford; a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 at St. Christopher's Church, 538 Brewer St., followed by committal services in Silver Lane Cemetery. Mr. Charon leaves his daughter-in-law, Nancy of South Windsor; James' partner, Tim Smith; Margaret's fiancÃ©, John Gaylord; his sister-in-law, Jean Charon; three grandchildren, William Charon, Nathan and Benjamin Doyen-Charon, his great-grandson, Darius Charon, and his former wife, Margaret Beaupre Charon. His brother, James Charon, is deceased.
