Eva R. Metropole

Eva R. Metropole, 91, of 56 Tor Court died Wednesday evening at Providence Care Center in Lenox, following a long illness. Born in Pittsfield on March 17, 1912, daughter of Israel and Rachel Samel Cutler, she was a 1930 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She also attended the former Berkshire Business College. Primarily a homemaker, she had worked as a bookkeeper at her husband's real estate business, the former Metropole Realty, until the 1980s. Prior to her marriage, she was a bookkeeper at the former Bernhardt Electric Co. A lifelong member of Knesset Israel Synagogue, Mrs. Metropole was a former member of its sisterhood and was a member ‘citizen' of the group Global Country of World Peace. Her husband, Emil Metropole, whom she married Dec. 24, 1936, died July 30, 1989. She leaves a son, Myron Metropole of Malverne, Pa.; three daughters, Ellen Metropole of Pittsfield, Terry Nevas of Weston, Conn., and Lois Lichtenthal of Stamford, Conn.; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Eva R. Metropole, age 91, died March 10, 2004. The funeral will be Sunday at 3 at Knesset Israel Synagogue with Rabbi Lynn Liberman, spiritual leader, officiating. Burial will follow in Knesset Israel Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Research Fund in care of the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. The family will receive friends during Shiva at the family home on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 7 to 9. Evening prayer service (minyan) will be each day at 7:30.
