Alona Walden

Alona Walden, 82, of Lindley Terrace died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Hudson Falls, N.Y., on May 28, 1918, daughter of Thomas J. and Mabel Breneisen Doyle, she graduated from Hudson Falls High School. In her earlier years, Mrs. Walden was employed by the former Gale Shoe Co. in North Adams and by Gaverts as a secretary. She retired from Williams College as a secretary in the financial aid department after 25 years of service. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown and a member of its Guild. She volunteered at the Women's Exchange and for Recording for the Blind. She enjoyed traveling, art and music. She leaves two daughters, A. Jean Walden of Williamstown, with whom she made her home, and Diane M. Brierley of Dallas; a sister, Genevieve Doyle of Hudson Falls, and a brother, John L. Doyle of Fort Ann, N.Y. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10 from St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where a Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Friends may call at the church tomorrow from 5 to 7, when the family will be in attendance. The burial will take place in the family lot in East Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph at Regis College or to the Williamstown Village Ambulance Service through the office of HOPKINS FUNERAL HOME, 61-67 Spring St., Williamstown, MA 01267.
