Mario H. Scapin

Mario H. Scapin, 65, of 25 School St. died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in Pittsfield on July 25, 1938, son of Eugenio and Angelina Maule Scapin, he was a graduate of Lee High School. He was last employed as a upholster at Art's Upholstery in East Lee. He also had worked for Lee Black Top and, in the 1950s and ‘60s, at Lee Lime Corp. Mr. Scapin was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of the Sons of Italy Marconi Lodge 1620. During the 1980s, he helped coach the Lee Girls' Softball. He enjoyed bowling and was a Yankees fan. He and his wife, the former Jennie M. Finkle, were married Nov. 9, 1968. Besides his wife, he leaves four daughters, Frances M. Scapin, Katherine A. Scapin and Betty B. Scapin, all of Lee, and Candy L. Chaffee of East Otis; three brothers, Victor Scapin and Eugene Scapin, both of Pittsfield, and Joseph Scapin of Lee; two sisters, Ann Touponce of Lee and Libra Scapin of Colorado, and two grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mario H. Scapin will be Wednesday at 9:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery. Visiting hours will be tomorrow, March 16, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the funeral home for a fund in his memory. Mario was predeceased by a sister, Beverly Martin, and by three brothers, Antonio, George and John Scapin.
