Elizabeth M. Gaylord

Elizabeth M. Gaylord, 88, formerly of 696 Cheshire Road, died Thursday at Hillcrest Commons. Born in the Berkshire section of Lanesboro on July 1, 1915, daughter of Arthur W. and Lillie Carrow Frilley, she attended Berkshire and Pittsfield schools. Mrs. Gaylord was a homemaker. She was a member of the Berkshire Union Chapel, where she served as a deaconess and taught Sunday school. She became a member of the Franklin Chapter Order of the Eastern Star on March 18, 1952, and was a member for over 50 years. She and her husband were active participants in both the chapter and the Berkshire Union Chapel. Her husband, Kenneth W. Gaylord, whom she married July 9, 1932, died on May 31, 1998. They had spent many happy years dividing their summers between the Berkshires and a camper on Lake Champlain. She leaves a daughter, Gail E. Phillips of Hinsdale; two sons, Roger M. Gaylord of Cheshire and Mark K. Gaylord of Peru; 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. A son, Bruce W. Gaylord, died Oct. 12, 1988. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Elizabeth M. Gaylord, who died March 12, 2004, will be Monday at 11 at the Berkshire Union Chapel, with the Rev. William Furey, pastor, officiating. Calling hours at the church will be from 9:30 until the time of the service. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in the spring. Among survivors are several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gaylord was predeceased by a sister, Gertrude H. Goodrich, and two brothers, William A. Frilley and Robert Frilley. Her children and grandchildren provided her with years of happiness and special memories. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are suggested to the Berkshire Union Chapel memorial fund in care of WELLINGTON FUNRAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, which is in charge of arrangements.
