Betty A. Sinico

Betty A. Sinico, 74, of 5 Commonwealth Ave. died Sunday at Fairview Hospital. Born in Great Barrington on May 25, 1929, daughter of George and Helen Maston Race, she attended local schools, including the former Searles High School. Mrs. Sinico was employed for many years in the shipping department of the former Jenifer House, from which she retired. She also had been employed by the former Great Barrington Manufacturing Co. She was a member of First Congregational Church and of the Southern Berkshire Bowling League at Cove Lanes for many years. She enjoyed playing cards and doing word puzzles as well as watching game shows. She and her husband, Louis W. Sinico, were married Aug. 25, 1947, in Martindale, N.Y. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Louis W. Sinico Jr. of Sheffield; two daughters, Barbara J. Gage of Pittsfield and Ann Barscz of Great Barrington, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Deborah Sinico, died in 1951. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Mrs. Betty A. Sinico will be conducted tomorrow, March 24, at 10 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Charles VanAusdall, pastor of First Congregational Church. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends tomorrow from 9 until the time of the funeral service. Expressions of sympathy in Mrs. Sinico's memory may be made to the Great Barrington Police Association Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Betty was lovingly devoted to caring for her family. She also leaves three grandchildren, Shannon Sinico of Great Barrington, A. John Sinico of Copake, N.Y., and Robert G. Carter of Pittsfield; three great-grandchildren, Celina Sinico, Shane Biernacki and Bryn Blackwell of Great Barrington; two sons-in-law, Dan Gage of Pittsfield and William Barscz of Great Barrington, and a daughter-in-law, Sheryl Sinico of Sheffield.
