Doris Desroches

Doris Desroches, 82, of 16 Albert St. died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Adams on May 23, 1921, daughter of Eugene and Angelina Berube Poupart Serre, she graduated in 1938 from the former Adams High School and in 1940 from the former Bliss Business School in North Adams. Mrs. Desroches was employed as a loan specialist for 35 years by the former GE Credit Union in Pittsfield, retiring in 1983. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas, where she was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. Her husband, Wilfred Desroches, whom she married in September 1950, died July 30, 1968. She leaves a son, Richard Desroches of Pepperell; a daughter, Nancy Montgomery of Adams; a grandson; stepgranddaughter, two great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Doris Desroches, who died March 20, 2004, will be Tuesday, March 23, at 11 from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at noon in St. Thomas' Church by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parishes of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and St. Stanislaus. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 5 to 8. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home. Survivors include her son-in-law, Bruce Montgomery; her grandson, Jason Desroches, and his wife, Barbara; a stepgranddaughter, Bridget McGrath; two great-grandchildren, Alexis Desroches and Cole Desroches; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Grace McGrath and Bryce McGrath, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Harvey Poupart and Euclid Poupart; a sister, Lilian Wandrei, and a stepgrandson, Bruce W. Montgomery Jr.
