Veronica Kapp

Veronica Kapp, 101, 150 Ashland St., died yesterday morning at Sweetbrook Care Centers in Williamstown. Born in Gorice, Poland, on July 6, 1902, daughter of John and Antonina Kozow Szczerba, she attended schools in Poland. She emigrated to the United States in 1925 and resided in Providence, R.I., and later New York City. She moved to North Adams in 1943. Mrs. Kapp had been employed as a domestic for several area families, including for the family of the late Dr. Arthur O. Rosenthal, for whom she worked for more than 25 years until her retirement. She was employed in factory work in Rhode Island, and at Schrafft's in New York for a short time. She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church. Her husband, Joseph Kapp, died in 1957. She leaves nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Graveside committal services and burial for Veronica Kapp, who died March 17, 2004, will take place in the spring in the family lot in Southview cemetery, North Adams. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Francis Building Fund in care of FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St. North Adams, Ma 01247, which is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters and two brothers, Josephine Mitusky, Mary Minsky and Philip and Walter Szczerba.
