John L. Jennings

John L. Jennings, 76, of 11 East Walnut St. died Monday evening at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Born in North Adams on Jan. 20, 1928, son of John and Sylvia Jandran Jennings, he moved with his family to Adams when he was a child and attended schools here. An Army veteran of World War II, he served with Company D, 6th Medical Battalion, until his honorable discharge in 1947. Mr. Jennings was the purchasing manager at the former James Hunter Machine Co. in North Adams for 37 years. He later worked briefly for Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams and for GE in Pittsfield before retiring. He was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas. An avid golfer, he was a member of Forest Park Country Club and was a past vice president and trustee of Fairway Realty Co., the holding company for the country club. He and his wife, the former Florence M. Wandrei, were married Nov. 29, 1947. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Stephen J. Jennings of Adams; a brother, William Jennings of Williamstown and three grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for John L. Jennings, who died March 22, 2004, will be tomorrow, March 25, at 12:45 from Auge-Paciorek-Simmons Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 1:30 in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Adams, by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, Pastor of the Parishes of Notre Dame-St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Stanislaus Kostka. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be tomorrow from noon until the time of the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or to the renal dialysis unit at Berkshire Medical Center through the funeral home. Mr. Jennings was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He also leaves his daughter-in-law, Michelle; his grandchildren Jessica, Shaun and Jason Jennings, all of Adams; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Catherine Pennington.
