Norah A. Burke

Norah A. Burke, 99, formerly of Lenox, died Saturday at Springside of Pittsfield after a long illness. Born in Steelton, Pa., on Sept. 6, 1904, daughter of Maurice and Catherine O'Connell Haggerty, she moved to Pittsfield with her family in 1914 and attended local schools. She moved to Lenox in 1980. Mrs. Burke was employed by the former Eaton Paper Co. for 27 years, retiring in 1970. While in Lenox, she was a communicant of St. Ann's Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality. Her husband, James J. Burke, died Jan. 8, 1964. She leaves two sisters, Margaret H. Haggerty and Anna E. Roberts, both of Pittsfield. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Norah A. Haggerty Burke, 99, who died March 27, 2004, will be Wednesday at 8:15 from DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 9 at St. Joseph's Church by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow, March 30, from 3 to 5 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Pediatric Development Center in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
