Doris Helen Landy

Doris Helen Landy, 87, formerly of 15 Avon St., died Sunday evening at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown. Born in North Adams on March 23, 1916, daughter of William J. and Martha Bostwick Wilson, she attended schools in Pittsfield and North Adams. Mrs. Landy was employed for many years as the secretary at the Bethel Pentecostal Church, of which she was a member and Sunday school teacher. Her husband, Edward Joseph Landy, whom she married in 1934, died Feb. 13, 1978. She leaves a daughter, Shirley Franco of Schenectady, N.Y.; two sons, James William Landy of Williamstown and Edward J. Landy Jr. of Housatonic; three sisters, June Wilder of Virginia, Mary Hewitt of North Adams and Stella Kemp of Williamstown; a brother, Floyd Wilson of Adams, nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Doris Landy, who died March 28, 2004, will take place at a time to be announced. Burial will be in the family lot in Southview Cemetery in North Adams. She was predeceased by three brothers and a sister: Ruth Miller, Otis Wilson, the Rev. Gerald Wilson, and another brother in infancy many years ago. She was a devoted wife and mother.
