Elinor A. Collins

Elinor A. Collins, 78, of 175 Spring St. died yesterday at home. Born in Pittsfield on July 4, 1925, daughter of Dr. Patrick J. and Margaret Maher Sullivan, she was a 1942 graduate of the former Dalton High School and a 1943 graduate of Dana Hall School in Wellesley. She also graduated from Wheaton College in Norton in 1947. She had been employed by radio station WBEC in Pittsfield until her marriage in 1950. She moved to Lee in 1952. Mrs. Collins was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. She was a volunteer for various organizations, including Pregnancy Support Services of Berkshire County and at Tanglewood. She was a member of the Stockbridge Golf Club. She and her husband, Dr. William K. Collins, were married July 10, 1950. Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, W. Kelly Collins Jr. of Pittsfield, Timothy G. Collins of Germantown, Tenn., and Michael T. Collins of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two daughters, Patricia J. Taylor of New Canaan, Conn., and Christine M. Avery of West Roxbury; a brother, Benjamin J. Sullivan of Dalton; a sister, Jean Sullivan Ogden of Washington and 11 grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Elinor A. Collins will be Monday at 9:15 from the KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or the Lee Regional Visiting Nurses Association in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238.
