The Rev. Joseph C. Paciorek

The Rev. Joseph C. Paciorek, 92, a native of Adams, died yesterday at St. Joseph's Residence in Enfield, Conn., where he had resided since 1999. Born April 14, 1911, son of Frank and Agnes Wdowiak Paciorek, he attended St. Stanislaus' School and graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School in North Adams. He attended a seminary in Poland, and was ordained a Vincentian priest in Krakow on Jan. 27, 1935. He celebrated his first Mass in St. Stanislaus' Church on Feb. 24, 1935. He spent a decade as a missionary in Wenchow, China. He returned to the United States in 1945, and was appointed to do mission work in Erie, Pa., and Whitestone, N.Y. Father Paciorek last served at St. Stanislaus' Parish in Meriden, Conn., for 13 years. He also was superior of the Vincentian Provincial House in West Hartford, Conn., and chaplain at Hartford (Conn.) Hospital for nine years. He was pastor of St. Michael's Parish in Derby, Conn., from 1964 to 1973. He is survived by nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Calling hours for Father Joseph C. Paciorek, who died March 31, 2004, will be held tomorrow, April 2, from 6 to 8 at St. Joseph's Residence, 1365 Enfield St., Enfield, Conn. A vigil service will be conducted at 7. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 3, at 11 in the chapel of the residence. Burial will take place in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams, on Saturday at approximately 3. Memorial donations may be made to the Vincentian Fathers Mission Fund or to the Little Sisters of the Poor of Enfield, Conn., through AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams, MA 01220. He was predeceased by four brothers, Paul, Peter, Walter and Stanley Paciorek, and by two sisters, Monica Wojcik and Sister Mary Virginelle, CSSF.
