Helen G. "Lol" Mahoney

Helen G. "Lol" Mahoney, 82, of 240 High St., formerly of 137 Center St., died yesterday at home. Born in Pittsfield on June 16, 1921, daughter of J. Joseph and Mary M. Mullaney Powers, she attended Lee schools, including Lee High School. Mrs. Mahoney had been privately employed as a home-care provider in the area for many years. During World War II, she had worked at the former Smith Paper Co. Mrs. Mahoney was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. Her husband, William H. Mahoney, whom she married Sept. 30, 1943, died Jan. 16, 1997. She leaves a daughter, Patricia Duval, with whom she made her home; a son, W. Michael Mahoney of Millbrook, N.Y., two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Lol Mahoney, who died April 5, 2004, will be Wednesday at 10:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be today, April 6, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make donations to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. She leaves her loving grandchildren Carrie and Brian, and great-grandchildren Ross and Lane. She also leaves her son-in-law, David; her daughter-in-law, Connie, and her loyal dog, Murphy. She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Powers, and her three sisters, Rita Tobin, Margaret Healy and Ann Shea.
