Elizabeth W. Valenti

Elizabeth W. Valenti, 94, of 1382 Memorial Ave., West Springfield, died Monday at the home of her daughter, Christine Rathbun, in Stockbridge. Born in Holyoke on March 2, 1910, daughter of Joseph and Mary Mitnik Sefcik, she attended Mater Dolorosa School in Holyoke. Mrs. Valenti and her late husband, Louis Valenti, owned and operated the former Blue Grotto Restaurant in West Springfield. She later worked at the National Library Bindery and the Dreikorn Bakery Store, both in West Springfield. She was a communicant of St. Ann's Church in West Springfield and a member of its Holy Rosary Sodality. Besides her daughter, she leaves a son, Peter Valenti of Fayetteville, N.C., and four grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Elizabeth Valenti, who died April 12, 2004, will be Friday at 8:30 at CURRAN-JONES FUNERAL HOME, West Springfield, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Ann's Church. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be tomorrow, April 15, from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare of the Berkshires, 29 Lewis Ave., Great Barrington, MA 01230. She also leaves her son-in-law, Leslie Rathbun; daughter-in-law, Patricia Valenti, and her grandchildren, Christine Valenti Shreve, Elizabeth Rathbun Emprimo, Marco Valenti and Patrick Rathbun.
