Irmgard B. Waller

Irmgard B. Waller, 82, of Devonshire Estates died yesterday at Kimball Farms Nursing Center. Born in Frankfurt, Germany, on May 20, 1918, daughter of Wilhelm and Lilly Engel Brill, she attended schools in Germany and studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She apprenticed in Europe as a pattern maker and designer before coming to New York in 1940. She designed sportswear for Sears and worked with many top fashion designers before retiring in 1973. Mrs. Waller was a member of Congregation Ahavath Sholom in Great Barrington and of Temple Israel in Daytona Beach, Fla. Her husband, Ernest Waller, whom she married Oct. 9, 1938, in Germany, died in 1993. She leaves a daughter, Helen Radin of Great Barrington; two grandsons, and two great-granddaughters. The funeral will be today, April 17, at 1 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, conducted by Student Rabbi Yohanna Kinberg. Burial will follow in Ahavath Sholom Cemetery. Contributions in Mrs. Waller's memory may be made to Congregation Ahavath Sholom through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
