Isidore D. Leibowitz

Isidore D. Leibowitz, 90, of 25 Witter Road died Saturday at the home of his daughter, Diane Dyer, on South Main Street. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Aug. 22, 1913, son of Leo and Sadie Locke Leibowitz, he was educated there. He had spent many summers in Otis and moved there after retiring. Mr. Leibowitz was employed for 39 years as a tool and die maker at Chatham Metal Co. in New York City, retiring in 1974. He was a former member of the Odd Fellows in Brooklyn and a member of the Kiwanis Club in Otis. He was chairman and treasurer of the Otis Council on Aging, a 50-year member of the Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and a member of the National Rifle Association. His wife, the former Tillie G. Moses, whom he married June 19, 1937, died April 17, 2000. Besides his daughter, he leaves another daughter, Lee "Zonnie" Hawley of East Otis; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Isidore D. Leibowitz, who died April 17, 2004, will be Thursday, April 22, at 11 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee. Burial will follow in Otis Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 and Thursday morning from 10 until the time of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the Otis Senior Center or HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 3 Main St., Lee, MA 01238. Mr. Leibowitz leaves his grandchildren, Stephen Dyer of Concord, N.H., Gregory Dyer of Otis, Jennifer Windram of Housatonic, Hillary Howard of Otis and Michael Hawley of East Otis, and his great-grandchildren, Ethan, Zachary and Hunter Dyer of Otis, Kyle and Cody Hawley of East Otis, and Sophie Howard of Otis, and his sons-in-law, William Dyer and Ronald Hawley. Mr. Leibowitz especially loved spending time with his great-grandchildren.
