Betty K. Morelli

Betty K. Morelli, 76, of 44 Avery Lane died Saturday at Fairview Hospital. Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 7, 1927, daughter of Francis W. and Edna Louise Hawley Keefe, she graduated from the former Searles High School in 1945. Mrs. Morelli was employed by the former Fashion Center and by Catherine's Chocolates, both in Great Barrington, and with her daughter, Anne Smith, at Village Travel in Sheffield. She was a communicant of St. Peter's Church and enjoyed knitting, reading, doing crossword puzzles, bird watching and traveling to Wells Beach, Maine. Her husband, Mario Morelli, whom she married May 26, 1956, died Dec. 6, 1988. Besides her daughter, of Sheffield, she leaves two sons, John F. Morelli of Great Barrington and Michael E. Morelli of Mount Washington. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Betty K. Morelli, who died April 17, 2004, will be held tomorrow, April 20, at 10 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Daniel Papineau, MIC, officiating. There will be no calling hours. Expressions of sympathy in Betty's memory may be made to the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Dawn Morelli; her son-in-law, Scott Smith, and her best friend of 42 years, Ellen McDermott of Great Barrington. She was predeceased by a brother, Edward F. Keefe, who died May 19, 1995.
