Normand Albert Ayotte

Normand Albert Ayotte, 70, of 23 Savoy Road died Friday evening at home after a long battle with cancer. Born in St. Agatha, Maine, on Feb. 21, 1934, son of Albert and Anne Marie Paradise Ayotte, he attended schools there. He moved to Berlin, Conn., in 1951 and to Florida in 1993. Mr. Ayotte owned and operated Midstate Formica Works of Berlin from 1960 until his retirement in 1993. Earlier, he had worked at Fafner Bearing Co. in Berlin for nine years. He was a member of the St. Jean the Baptist Church in New Britain, Conn. He also was a member of the French Model Club of New Britain, the Indian Head Snowmobilers of Charlemont and the Florida Mountaineers Snowmobile Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He and his wife, the former Yvette A. Dufour, were married Oct. 22, 1951. Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, Danny Ayotte of Kensington, Conn., Rodney Ayotte of Meriden, Conn., Michael Ayotte of Berlin and Jimmy Ayotte of Windham, Conn.; six brothers, Tony Ayotte of Plainville, Conn., Sylvio Ayotte and Jean Paul Ayotte, both of Southington, Conn., Richard Ayotte and Gerald Ayotte, both of Kensington, and Reginald Ayotte of Parkman, Maine; three sisters, Albertine Dufour of Stockholm, Maine, Jeannine Gallegos and Rita Thibeault, both of Southington, and eight grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Memorial services for Normand Ayotte, who died May 7, 2004, will be held later this week in Kensington, Conn. Calling hours will be today, May 9, from 4 to 7 at AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247. The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests memorial donations be made to VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire Inc. through the funeral home. He leaves his daughters-in-law, Janice, Mary Jane and Donna, and his eight grandchildren Eric, Jennifer, Mark, Danielle, Lee Ann, Jason, Daren and Jacqueline Ayotte, all of Connecticut. A brother, Bertrand Ayotte, is deceased.
