Estelle Guerin

Estelle Guerin, 84, of 611 State Road died Thursday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Candia, N.H., on Sept. 20, 1919, daughter of Adelard and Josephine Lariviere Lemaire, she moved to Hooksett, N.H., with her parents as a child and attended school there. After her marriage, she moved to Quincy with her husband. In 1949, she moved to Adams, then to Williamstown in 1965. When in Williamstown, she and her husband managed the former Swiss Meadows Resort until 1978. She then moved to Cheshire and worked in the housekeeping department at North Adams Regional Hospital, retiring in 1984. In 2000, she moved to North Adams. She enjoyed knitting and quilting and was a member of the Adams Quilting Club. Her husband, Arsene Guerin, whom she married Sept. 21, 1940, died Oct. 3, 1990. She leaves one son, Joseph Guerin of Dalton; one daughter, Claire Mahoney of Williamstown; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Estelle Guerin will take place Monday, May 10, at 10:30 in St. Thomas' Church in Adams, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel O'Hear, pastor of St. Anthony's Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in Cheshire Cemetery. Calling hours at the TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, will be Monday from 8:30 until the time of the service. Donations in her memory may be made to Elder Services of Berkshire County through the funeral home. She leaves a son-in-law, William Mahoney; a daughter-in-law, Jean Guerin; five grandchildren, Kim McNeil, Cheryl Josler, Kathleen Mahoney, William Mahoney Jr. and Stephen Guerin; two great-grandchildren, Ryan McNeil and Grayson Guerin. Two sisters, Lucien Gagnon and Mary Lemaire are deceased.
