Genevieve Quinn

Genevieve Quinn, 80, of Housatonic Street died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Harbor Main, Newfoundland, on Dec. 6, 1923, the daughter of Thomas P. and Camilla Sullivan Hickey, she attended schools there and was a 1941 graduate of St. Joseph's Catholic School. She came to this country and to Lenox in 1944. She had been employed by the former Meadow Place Women's Retirement Home and the former Edgecombe Nursing Home, both in Lenox. She retired in 1985. Mrs. Quinn was a communicant of St. Ann's Church and a member of its Rosary Altar Society. She had also been a member of the former VFW Women's Auxiliary. Her husband, James A. Quinn, whom she married Sept. 27, 1947, in St. Ann's Church, died Sept. 13, 1978. She leaves two sons, James E. Quinn and Edward T. Quinn, both of Lenox; two daughters, Patricia Quinn Hogan of Pittsfield and Mary Quinn Galbraith of New Fairfield, Conn.; a sister, Ellen M. MacMillan of Pittsfield, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Genevieve H. Quinn will be Saturday at 9:15 from the ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Ann's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Friday, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial donations to either the Lenox Ambulance Squad or the Berkshire Humane Society, both in care of the funeral home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 001240. Mrs. Quinn is survived by her grandchildren, Megan M. Houghtling of Pittsfield and her husband, Brian, Stephen Quinn of Lenox, Colleen Galbraith and Sean Galbraith of New Fairfield, and Jay Baver and his wife, Yuliya, of Mashpee; three great-grandsons, Kyle, Caleb and Cody Houghtling; sons-in-law John J. Hogan and David C. Galbraith; cousins Constance Stickles, Elizabeth Johnson and Joan Eagan; nieces and nephews Carl MacMillan of Toronto, Gail MacMillan of Morocco, and Alan MacMillan of Uxbridge, as well as several nieces and nephews in Canada, and her brother-in-law, Gavan MacMillan of Pittsfield.
