Hazel Ina Alden

Hazel Ina Alden, 89, of 24 Silver St. died Tuesday at Timberlyn Heights Nursing Center after a brief illness. Born in Montague on Dec. 17, 1914, daughter of Joseph Simone and Emily Louise Wonsey Bourdeau, she lived most of her life in Shelburne Falls and graduated from Arms Academy there. She also attended the nursing school in Greenfield. She came to Great Barrington in 1997. She served as a health care worker in the Shelburne Falls area. Mrs. Alden was an active member of the Trinity Fellowship and recently of Old Parish Church in Sheffield, where she served on the Deaconate. She was a Cub Scout den mother and a member of several local service organizations, president of the Shelburne Falls Senior Center. She was an active supporter of the Claire Teague Senior Center in Great Barrington. Her husband, Burton Lenwood Alden, is deceased. She leaves two sons, Dale Len-wood Alden of Ashley Falls and Gary Wayne Alden of Charlotte, N.C., two grandsons and two granddaughters. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Memorial Service for Hazel Ina Alden will be Saturday, June 5, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at the Old Parish Church in Sheffield. Burial will be at a later date at the family plot at Elm Grove Cemetery in Montague. She leaves two sons, Dale Lenwood Alden and his wife, Sandra Spencer Alden, of Ashley Falls, and Gary Wayne Alden and his wife, Cynthia Malone Little, of Charlotte, N.C.; two grandsons, Daniel Lenwood Alden and Jonathan Edward Alden, and two granddaughters, Abigail Hart Alden of Fairfax, Va., and Emily Louise Alden of Boone, N.C. Her husband, Burton Lenwood Alden, predeceased her. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Capital Fund for the Restoration of the Old Parish Church may be made through the FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, Ma 01230.
