Josephine Campedelli, 85
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Josephine "Pep" Campedelli, 85, of 115 Phelps Ave., died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at her home. Death followed a brief illness.
Born in Piani di Albanesi, Italy, on March 21, 1915, daughter of Frank and Maria Carbone Bushika, she came to the United States and North Adams as a child with her family andwas educated in North Adams schools.
Mrs. Campedelli was employed for many years with the former Sprague Electric Co. until her retirement.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church, where she served as a Eucharistic minister. She was a longtime volunteer for St. Anthony's bazaar and LaFesta Committee, and for numerous other church activities and committees. For more than 18 years, she was a well known and popular volunteer at North Adams Regional Hospital.
She was an excellent cook and enjoyed reading, gardening, walking and spending much time with her family and friends.
Her husband, Richard N. Campedelli, whom she married July 29, 1934, in St. Anthony's Church, died Oct. 8, 1989.
She leaves two daughters, Carole J. Campedelli, with whom she resided, and Barbara "Honey" Lewis of North Adams; a son, Joseph Campedelli; four sisters, Mary F. Messier, Theresa J. Pontier, Kathryn Bushika and Joan I. Cellana, all of North Adams; two brothers, George R. Bushika of Cheshire and Frank R. Bushika Jr. of North Adams; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
A sister, Frances "Cheena" Bushika and two brothers, Joseph F. Bushika Sr. and Victor Busicchia (Bushika), are deceased.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Campedelli will be Saturday, April 21, at 8:15 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, North Adams, with the Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday, April 20, from 4 to 8. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Anthony Building Fund or the North Adams Regional Hospital through the funeral home.
