Joseph Armand Boucher

Joseph Armand Boucher, 68, of 549 State Road died Friday at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, where he was admitted June 17. Born in Burlington, Vt., on July 1, 1935, son of George and Yvonne Marie Provencher Boucher, his family moved to the Greylock section of North Adams as a child and he attended the area schools, including the former Holy Family School. A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the Air Force. Mr. Boucher was firefighter for the city of North Adams for 25 years, retiring in 1990. He also had worked at the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co., then for Grande and Hayden fuel companies. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church and a member of the Greylock Community Club. He also was a longtime member of Professional Firefighters Union Local 1781. He loved to play horseshoes and won several trophies in competitions. He and his wife, the former Veleda Trombley, were married Nov. 15, 1958, in Notre Dame Church. Besides his wife, he leaves four sons, Alan Boucher of Pownal, Vt., and David Boucher, Gary Boucher and Craig Boucher, all of North Adams; a brother, Roger Boucher of North Adams, and seven grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Joseph A. Boucher will be Wednesday at 10:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Burial will take place at a later date. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 to 7. Memorial donations are suggested for the American Heart Association and Diabetes Association through the funeral home. Survivors include four daughters-in-law, Diane, Teresa, Paula and Shelley Boucher; seven grandchildren, Curtis, Vanessa, Collin, Nicole, Erica, Caitlyn and Mackenzie Boucher. He also leaves his very good friend Loren Parisien, with whom he played horseshoes for many years. Another brother, Albert Boucher, died March 7, 1996.
