Martha Eichinger

Martha Eichinger, 79, of 85 Eagle St., formerly of Main Road, Stamford, Vt., died Monday at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Skien in Telemark, Norway, on June 7, 1921, daughter of Jorgen J. and Martha Marum Jontvedt, she was educated in schools in Norway and graduated from a commercial high school there. She emigrated to the United States and settled in New Jersey. She was employed as a secretary for Warner & Lambert Co. for several years. She moved to Stamford in 1985. While in New Jersey, she was politically active. Her husband, Ole Shou Eich-inger, whom she married Oct. 23, 1952, in New Jersey, died Oct. 10, 1992. She leaves a twin sister, Judith Jontvedt of Norway. A Memorial Service for Martha Jontvedt Eichinger will take place Saturday at 2 at the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, with the Rev. Dennis Castella, pastor of Bethel Pentecostal Church in North Adams, officating. Burial will take place in the family plot in Norway. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations are suggested for Stamford (Vt.) Volunteer Fire Department through the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals. She was predeceased by three sisters, Kirsti and Johanna Ulrichsen and Mary Jontvedt Anderson. Mrs. Eichinger loved nothing better than a good argument.
