Richard J. “Ripper” Olszewski

Richard J. “Ripper” Olszewski, 66, formerly of 3 Hart Street, Housatonic section of Great Barrington, died Saturday at Great Barrington Rehab & Nursing Center after a long illness. Born in Housatonic July 7, 1934, he was the son of Joseph end Katherine Krzynowek Olszewski and attended local schools. A lifelong Housatonic resident he enjoyed being at the Housatonic Fire Station and the followship of the firemen. He was a communicant of All Saints Church. He leaves two sisters Janet J. Soldati and Victoria H. Wool, both of Housatonic and three brothers Francis J. ‘Ruby’ Olszewski of Housatonic, Edmund S. Olszewski of Newnam, Georgia and Robert J. Olszewski of Phoenix, Arizona. The Funeral will be Tuesday April 24 at 9:30 from the HICKEY-ROY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in All Saints Church celebrated by Reverend Anthony J. Jutt, Pastor. Burial will follow in St. Bridget’s Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday afternoon from 4 to 7. Donations may be made to All Saints Church Memorial Fund or the Housatonic Hose Company C/O Hickey-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230. Mr. Olszewski also leaves many nieces and nephews.
