David Lyman Abbott

David Lyman Abbott, 73, of Mount Washington Road died yesterday morning at the Castle Point (N.Y.) VA hospital. Born in Corning on Hudson, N.Y., on March 5, 1931, son of Ernest and Alice Roesler Abbott, he moved with his family to Great Barrington and attended schools there. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Abbott owned and operated an automobile repair shop in South Egremont for many years. He enjoyed driving his stock car at Lebanon Valley Speedway in West Lebanon, N.Y. He and his wife, the former Ann Olmsted, were married Dec. 17, 1960, in South Egremont. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Daniel Abbott of South Egremont; a brother, William Davis of New Jersey, and two granddaughters. Another son, Michael Abbott, died in 1998. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for David Lyman Abbott, who died July 21, 2004, will be private. There will be no calling hours. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Jennifer Abbott of South Egremont, and granddaughters Melissa and Jessica. He was predeceased by a son, Michael Abbott, in 1998.
