Lea J. LeGrand

Lea J. LeGrand, 84, of 301 Ridge Road, York, Maine, formerly of Adams, died yesterday at home. Born in Adams on May 14, 1920, daughter of Joseph P. and Aldea Daignault Phoenix, she attended the former Notre Dame School. She later graduated from the licensed practical nursing program at McCann Technical School in North Adams. She moved to York in 1990. Mrs. LeGrand was a nurse at North Adams Regional Hospital for more than 20 years, retiring in 1987. She also had worked in the Berkshire mills during the 1950s and at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams during World War II on part of the Manhattan Project. She was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church of York Harbor, Maine. Her husband, Lawrence H. LeGrand, died in 1972. She leaves a daughter, Denise J. Thomas of Natick, her son, Richard N. LeGrand of South Yarmouth, five granddaughters and one greatgrandson. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Lea J. LeGrand, age 84, died peacefully at her home on July 24, 2004, with her family by her side. The funeral will be Monday, July 26, at 1 at St. George's Episcopal Church, York Street, York Harbor, Maine. There will be no visiting hours. Memorial donations may be made to the York Public Library, 15 Long Sands Road, York, ME 03909. Arrangements by the LUCAS & EATON FUNERAL HOME, York. She also leaves her son-in-law, Edwin Thomas, and daughter-in-law, Judith LeGrand.
