Rita E. Charron

Rita Elizabeth Charron, 84, of 150 Ashland Park Apartments died Sunday at Sweet Brook Health Care Center in Williamstown. Born in North Adams on July 2, 1916, daughter of Nelson D. and Georgianna Murray Charron, she attended the former Notre Dame School. She was employed by the former Hoosac Cotton Mill in North Adams until it ceased operations. She was last employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for several years, retiring in 1981. A communicant of Notre Dame Church, Miss Charron was an active volunteer at the Mary Spitzer Center and a member of the Ashland Street Tenants' Association. She enjoyed walking and reading. She leaves two sisters, Lorraine DeSanty of North Adams and Theresa LaDue of Fitchburg. Services will be Thursday at 8:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at Our Lady of Mercy Church in North Adams. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 5 to 7. Memorial donations are suggested for Elder Services of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home. Miss Charron was predeceased by a brother, Nelson "Duke" Charron.
