Bridget Landers

Bridget Landers, 91, formerly of 379 East St., Providence Court Apartments, died Monday at Hillcrest Commons, where she had resided for three years. Born in Dungarvan, County Waterford, Ireland, on Feb. 12, 1910, daughter of James and Margaret Ryan Power, she attended schools in Ireland. She had also resided in Youghal, County Cork, Ireland, before moving to the United States and Pittsfield in 1958. Mrs. Landers was employed as a nurse's aide at the former Dalton Convalescent Nursing Home for 14 years. She had also worked at St. Teresa's Rectory for several years after moving here from Ireland. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. Mrs. Landers had a role as an extra in the movie "Moby Dick" when it was made in Ireland. Her husband, Daniel T. Landers, whom she married in 1933, died Feb. 8, 1950. She leaves a son, Daniel Landers of Dalton; a daughter, Catherine O'Mahoney of Youghal, Ireland; a brother, Edward Power of Ireland; a sister, Nora Curtis of Brooklyn, N.Y.; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at Dery Funeral Home will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home. Mrs. Landers is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
