Dorothy DuPont

Dorothy W. DuPont, 74, of Laurel Avenue died Monday at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Nov. 26, 1926, daughter of Thomas and Esther Naomi Agnes Toburn Walsh, she attended schools there and, in 1944, graduated from Girls Commercial High School with honors. From 1944 to 1960, Mrs. DuPont was employed as an executive secretary for several firms, including Prentice-Hall Inc., McManus, John & Adams Inc., Anderson & Cairns Inc., Lennen & Newell Inc., and Fairchild Camera Corp., all in New York. After moving to Lee in 1955, she was employed by P.J. Schweitzer and Co. From 1985 until her death, she worked as a customer service representative for Cumberland Farms. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of its St. Mary-St. Martha Sodality. She was a past member of St. Mary's Church choir and a longtime supporter of St. Mary's School. She enjoyed photography. Her husband, Robert A. DuPont, whom she married Aug. 28, 1954, died Aug. 5, 1984. She leaves a son, Robert T. DuPont of Pittsfield, and two daughters, Michelle M. DuPont of Salem and Celeste M. DuPont of East Longmeadow. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 9:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be at the funeral home Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Friends wishing may make donations to St. Mary's School Library Fund in care of the funeral home.
