Eva Marie Gaudreau Babeu

Eva Marie Gaudreau Babeu, 93, of 144 Hibiscus Drive, Maumelle, Ark., a native and former longtime North Adams resident, died Tuesday at the Golden Years Manor in Lonoke, Ark. She had been a resident of Maumelle since 1997. Born in North Adams on Nov. 8, 1910, daughter of Osias and Antoinette Adams Gaudreau, she attended North Adams schools. Mrs. Babeu was last employed for many years as a waitress at the former Dilego's Diner until her retirement in 1975. Earlier, she was employed at the former Sprague Electric Co. She was a longtime active member of Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church and was a member of its Ladies of Charity. She was also a member of Le Cercle Francais and was an avid bridge player. Her husband, Harvey N. Babeu, whom she married April 13, 1936, died July 8, 1994. She leaves a son, Richard G. Babeu of Maumelle, with whom she made her home; a brother, Norman Gaudreau of Adams; two sisters, Florence Franchomme of Schaghticoke, N.Y., and Lorraine Hurlbut of Falmouth, Maine, and one granddaughter. FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services will be held at 8, Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, from the AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be from 2 to 5 Sunday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Massachusetts chapter, through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., 01247. She leaves a granddaughter, Michelle A. Babeu of Sterling, Va. and many nieces and nephews.
