Gordon W. West

Gordon W. West, 81, of Philadelphia, a former resident of North Adams, died July 30 in Philadelphia. Born in North Adams on Feb. 15, 1923, son of George and Grace Bullett West, he was a 1940 graduate of Drury High School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served for three years. After his military career, Mr. West performed on Broadway in several plays, including "Pal Joey," "Annie Get Your Gun" and "Let's Face It." He also toured Europe with the precision dancers Deb-onnaires and had a command performance before the king and queen of England and former President Harry S. Truman. He was last employed for CBS/WCAW in St. Louis and Philadelphia until his retirement. He leaves two sisters, Ruth Callahan of North Adams and Gloria Patryn of Dalton. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of Gordon W. West will take place at a later date in North Adams. The FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME for FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, is in charge of arrangements. Survivors include 12 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister and two brothers, Lena West, Charles West and George West. He also leaves 12 nieces and nephews.
