Rose J. DeHoust

Rose J. DeHoust, 92, formerly of 38 DeHoust Road, died Saturday at Fairview Commons. Born in Baltimore on April 9, 1912, daughter of Bruno and Helen Banach Rich, she attended schools in Putnam and Woodstock, Conn., and moved to New York City in 1933. She moved to Roslyn, N.Y., in 1950, back to New York in 1980, then to Hillsdale, N.Y., in 1990. She was a former communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Brooklyn, N.Y., St. Mary's Church in Roslyn, and St. Bridget's Church in Copake, N.Y., and enjoyed gardening and cooking. Her husband, Roger J. DeHoust, whom she married in February 1939 in New York City, died March 19, 1967. She leaves two sons, Joseph DeHoust of the state of Florida and Paul DeHoust of Great Barrington; a sister, Veronica Rich of Woodstock, Conn.; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Rose J. DeHoust, who died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, will be Thursday, Aug. 12, at 9 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 in St. Peter's Church by the Rev. Daniel Papineau, MIC, pastor. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Brooklyn, N.Y. Family will receive friends tomorrow, Aug. 11, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington. Survivors include her four grandchildren, Christopher, Brian and Michael DeHoust and Christine Lauer.

Grandma u would have been proud of me now. I wish i had more memories of you. But the best ones are reading the dinosaur book in roslen and watching the deer in hillsdale.
