Lauretta Marie Josephine Lefebvre

Lauretta Marie Josephine Lefebvre, 82, of 217 Central Shaft Road, formerly of Adams, died Wednesday at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Canada on July 6, 1922, daughter of Lucien and Amanda Senecal Lemieux, she attended schools there. She came to Adams at age 11 after being adopted by her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Emile Hamelin, and graduated from the former Notre Dame Parochial School. Mrs. Lefebvre had been employed as a clerk for the former Mammoth Mart in North Adams for 10 years, retiring in 1982. Prior to this, she had worked for many years in the card room for the former Berkshire Hathaway Co. in Adams. She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame/St. Thomas Aquinas. Her husband, Arthur R. Lefebvre, whom she married June 12, 1948, died Dec. 6, 1996. She leaves a son, David Lefebvre of Westerly, R.I.; a daughter, Christine Tanguay of Florida; a sister, Fernand Bernard of Montreal, Canada, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Lauretta Marie Josephine Lefebvre will take place Saturday, Aug. 14, 2004 from the TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in Notre Dame Church, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor of the Parishes of Notre Dame, St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Stanislaus. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Friday, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home. She leaves her daughter-in-law, Constance Sullivan Lefebvre.
